...it's pay enough.

Construction paper hearts on my extra pillow,
just as Ben placed them beside me
while I still slept in the morning.

Satisfied
by Margaret E. Sangster

Love wore a threadbare dress of gray,
And toiled upon the road all day.
Love wielded pick and carried pack
Though meager-fed and sorely tasked,
One only wage Love ever asked -
A child's face to kiss at night,
A woman's smile by candlelight.
