In Which I Became a Country Girl

I never intended to walk away....honestly...but it has been a good year.  Some of you have been so gracious to periodically stop by or say hello - and I owe you an update!

This year has been full of so many things.

In late summer we bought an old farmhouse on three acres.  Our family of eleven divvied up our favorite books and moved in three separate ways.  Our oldest son Jake stayed in town and still lives in our previous house.  Our second son, Nick, graduated in May and went away to college in the fall.  It's all good, good, good.  I'll fill you in over time...

I suppose that if I am to tell the full truth, I have to say that this adorable little boy above keeps me very, very...very busy.  And IF I am able to blog at all, he will keep me from being long-winded.

I'm a country girl now.  (Or at least I pretend.)  We live a simple life; as simple as we can make it.

I've got a lot of pictures to share from the last six months - just a few at a time, a few minutes here and there.

So, hello.  How've you been?

  2. HOLLY! I have missed you. Thank you so much for the update. I can well believe that Jake is man enough to take care for the old place on his own - he's a remarkable young man. I can't believe Nick is in college! It seems like yesterday... OH and Gabriel is soooo big!

We are aspiring country folk too. We sold our house on Long Island and are renting a place three hundred miles northwest while we wait on a short sale on a house with property.

  3. I actually looked at your blog two days ago - I just got a pixie cut and can't figure out how to style it, then remembered how cute yours looked. I couldn't believe it had been a year since you updated, and it's crazy that this showed up in my feed today. Welcome back! I have missed your updates, they have always been very uplifting and encouraging for me.

  4. Oooo, Megan....and in this picture my hair has not even been combed nor do I have on makeup for the day. I'm sorry about that! :) I looooove having short hair, though....

    Thank you for saying hello!

Karen - we'll always stay in touch. :) Friends for....20 years now? Almost!

Sara - that's fantastic news! :) I wish you many good things on your new adventures!

  5. I'd love to hear more about living the simple life. This year we moved from a 2,000 sq. foot house with a big yard to a 1,300 sq. foot townhouse with no yard. Had to get rid of a lot of "stuff" and still trying to get rid of more (it is never-ending!). The simple life is what I crave and I am always looking for tips and stories. I'm glad you posted again and I enjoyed the pics of your big little boy.

  10. It's so nice to see you back at the blog! Although I am glad that you update through FB too. :)

That little boy is just the cutest thing! And I can tell by that look in his eyes that he's the one the other 8 prepped you for, lol. :D I bet his giggles are awesome.

    1. Vanessa - I thought I typed out a response earlier but evidently it didn't post. (If it shows up twice...that's why.) :)

You are just so right about my little guy. He totally knows he's showing everyone here how toddlerhood is really done. :)
